Training & Airside

From first solo to skill test, on real airside operations.

Hangar 1 is G+1: the ground floor is the MRO — a 446 sqm maintenance bay with tool and bonded-parts stores, GPU store and wash bay. The first floor holds flight operations, the pilot briefing room, CFI office, library and admin, its full apron-facing wall glazed so cadets watch the line they are about to fly.

Ground classes and DGCA exams delivered at ADynamics branches; the Hubballi facility is a dedicated flight-line and MRO campus.

Weather & Flying Days

Roughly 240 to 260 days a year in the air.

Hubballi sits on the Deccan plateau and has a tropical-savanna climate — long stretches of clear skies, moderate temperatures, and a shorter, more manageable monsoon than coastal training bases. FirstKnots plans every cohort so cadets arrive into the peak flying window with ground school already behind them.

The flying year at Hubballi

Three seasons, one plan.

Peak season
November to March

Cool mornings, clear skies, steady winds. More than half of every cadet’s hours are logged in this window. Cross-country navigation, instrument training, and night flying are all scheduled into this stretch.

≈126 days
Shoulder season
April, May, October

Warm, mostly clear days with the odd afternoon build-up. Sorties are flown earlier in the day, and cadets are briefed on density-altitude performance on the Cessna 172 and Tecnam P2006T before every summer flight.

≈70 days
Monsoon season
June to September

A shorter, gentler monsoon than the west coast. We deliberately use this window for ground school, simulator work, and DGCA theory papers at ADynamics branches, so no cadet loses momentum when the weather clears.

Season figures are ten-year IMD-informed averages for the Hubballi region. Actual flyable days each month depend on live METAR and TAF at VOHB.

How we plan around it

The calendar is built so no cadet loses momentum.

01 New intakes are timed so that ground school and DGCA theory work fall inside the monsoon months at ADynamics branches.
02 Cadets arrive on the Hubballi flight-line at the start of the peak season, theory cleared and Class-1 medical in hand.
03 Solo navigation and cross-country phases are placed in the strongest visibility months, November through March.
04 Summer sorties are flown early in the morning to stay ahead of afternoon heat and density-altitude effects.
05 Winter morning haze clears by around 08:30 to 09:00 IST — the first slots of the day are planned accordingly.
